Winner - Digital City Awards

Winner at the Digital City Awards

Armchair Adventures is now a multi award-winning podcast!

We are thrilled to report that we won a glittering trophy at the Digital City Awards last week, which brings together local, national and international companies to recognise the best of creativity, innovation, digital and tech, all under one roof.

Sitting in the glitzy hall at the Etihad stadium, we held our breath, crossed all of our fingers and all of our toes – and we heard our name called! The Made By Mortals team went up on the stage to collect the award on behalf of all of our community groups and then partied the night away.

Armchair Adventures was voted by the judges to be the Best Use of Technology in the Not for Profit category. We had some wonderful feedback from the team of judges, who were impressed and intrigued about how we went from having never used Zoom to writing, making and sharing an interactive podcast within the short space of a few months – all during lockdown.

They enjoyed our story of how we enabled our theatre groups to become digitally connected at a time where we were physically apart, and then used this to help other people stay connected with their loved ones. The judges said:

“Armchair Adventures has such a wonderful, altruistic quality to it, and reaching the hearts and minds of both young and old shows that we can all connect through creativity.”

Andy Smith, director at Made by Mortals, said:

“Words cannot say how excited we were to collect our second award for the Armchair Adventures project. We have all worked so hard to share stories, imaginations and music to create an amazing interactive adventure podcast to bring people and generations together – and we continue to do so.”

Armchair Adventures has now had more than 35,000 listens and we are currently releasing series two AND planning to start recording and releasing series three in the summer. Our adventures of the imagination are not over yet! Stay tuned for more exciting adventures, turning people’s real life experiences into a fun and interactive story podcast for children.

Armchair Adventures previously won an award, at the Manchester Publicity Association Awards last year. Read the previous blog post about this award win.
