Call Out for a Visual Artist and Photographer

 
At Made By Mortals, we bring lived experience to life — co‑creating characters and stories that challenge perspectives and spark action around health, care, and social justice. Together with our communities, we create audio stories, films, and video character case studies full of real voices, insight, music, and emotion — work that makes people feel and belong.

We’re looking for a visual artist and photographer to help us capture the heart of what we do. We need a range of vibrant, artistic, and people‑focused images to bring our website and marketing materials to life.

Our work is imaginative, emotional, and upbeat — and we want visuals that express that same spirit: images that celebrate imagination and community and make people feel part of something that matters.

We’re looking for a Visual Artist and Photographer who:
  • Lives in/near Greater Manchester – because we want to work with you in-person.
  • Has at least three years experience in similar work.
  • Is a lone freelancer/subcontractor – as we want to build a strong and creative working relationship with you.
  • Is comfortable and experienced with working with diverse communities – as we imagine some of the images will be co-created with the people we serve.
What we offer:
  • An initial commission of £2000 (amount of content/days negotiable), with the aim of us having an ongoing working relationship. 
  • Collaborative and supportive working environments.
  • A chance to contribute creatively to meaningful projects.

Call Out for Freelance Musicians

Made By Mortals are looking to expand our portfolio of freelance musicians to collaborate on upcoming projects. We’re particularly interested in people who combine strong musical practice with experience working creatively with others.

Made By Mortals are a not-for-profit arts organisation based in Tameside. We work with diverse groups of people to ‘bring lived experience to life’ through audio stories, film, music, theatre and interactive workshops. 

 

We’re looking for musicians with skills in:

  • Workshop facilitation (community, participatory or collaborative settings)
  • Music composition (across any genre or style)
  • Audio production (recording, editing, sound design, or mixing)

Who this is for:

  • Freelance musicians, composers, producers, and sound artists.
  • People who enjoy working with diverse groups and adapting their practice to different contexts.
  • Those interested in collaborative, creative, or socially engaged work.

What we offer:

  • Paid freelance opportunities (starting at £200/day).
